From Austin and San Antonio.

  1. Most visitors from San Antonio and Austin prefer to use Hwy 21 which runs straight to the loop in Crockett.
  2. When you arrive at the loop take a left, drive until you reach the next flashing light, this is S.H. 229.
  3. Take a left on 229 and travel approx 7 miles to County Road 2140 (a few scattered billboards are at the corner).
  4. Take a right at 2140 and drive approx 2 miles to a sign on the left that says “Linwood Estates Sect II”  this is O’Connell Trail, turn left here.
  5. Follow the road (you’ll pass the Gregory) to the top of the hill where it “T’s. You will turn right and immediately pull into the driveway of the yellow A-frame. Welcome to Awesome View. We recommend backing down the driveway for the easiest exit

From Houston.

  1. Take I-45 North past the tall statue of Sam Houston in Huntsville until you see a sign saying Crockett (Hwy 19) Exit here and stay on 19 for approx. 50 miles.
  2. After approx 50 miles on hwy 19 (you will pass through the towns of Riverside, Trinity and Lovelady) you will come to loop 304 in Crockett.
  3. Take a left at the loop and follow it until the flashing yellow light that is Hwy 229 (small sign says Houston County Lake).
  4. Take a left on 229 and follow approx 7 miles to County Road 2140 (a few scattered billboards are at the corner ).
  5. Take a right at 2140 and drive approx 2 miles to a sign on the left that says “Linwood Estates Sect II” this is O’Connell Trail. Turn left here
  6. Follow the road (you’ll pass the Gregory) all the way up the hill to the end. You will see Awesome View straight across the road. Yellow a frame. We recommend backing down the driveway for easiest exit.

From Dallas: Quickest Route.

  1. Take I-45 South to the Centerville exit. Head East on Highway 7 until you hit loop 304 in Crockett (approx 33 miles.)
  2. Turn left and travel 1/2 mile to the yellow flashing light. Turn left on to 229 and travel approx. 7 miles to County road 2140 ( a few scattered billboards are at the corner.)
  3. Take a right at 2140 and drive approx 2 miles to a sign on the left that says “Linwood Estates Sect II”  this is O’Connell Trail. Turn left here.

  2. Turn left and travel 1/2 mile to the yellow flashing light. Turn left on to 229 and travel approx. 9 miles to County road 2140 ( a few scattered billboards are at the corner.)
  3. Take a right at 2140 and drive approx 2 miles to a sign on the left that says “Linwood Estates Sect II” .

  6. 2130 is a county maintained dirt road. You will travel this road for approx 2 miles until it T’s with Pipeline road (2125) Take a left.
  7. Follow 2125 approx 3 mile and when you come over the hill and see the lake you’ll take your next right onto P.R. 6150.
  8. Boones Retreat is the first house on the left, it has a long driveway and sets back off the road.

Start slowing and look for the mailbox with the numbers 9032 and three triangular reflectors. pull in the driveway up to the gate. The entry before the gate is large enough for a vehicle and trailer.
