If you’re looking for a gorgeous natural setting where you will find plenty of nice seating and walking areas, this place is for you. The cabin itself is super clean, uncluttered, and yet has all the essentials. Great communication from the hosts. Highly recommended!

Also, landscapers came while we were napping, which we were not expecting. Outside of those two issues, everything else was amazing. Loved the thoughtfulness of having brown wash cloths for cleaning face/ make-up!!! We would stay here again as long as we did not need internet. **Internet issues are with surrounding areas, not just the home.

My friend and I wanted a weekend getaway from the hustle and bustle of our dailies, and this property provided exactly what we were looking for. Sitting on the back porch and listening to the wind rustle the trees, winding up the drive to the cabin, and being away from light and noise pollution all contributed to the feeling of separation and helped us enjoy our time. A plus and a minus was that cell reception is nil within a few miles, and Wi-Fi and LTE/5G connections were unreliable - this challenged some of our communications with family, but it also contributed to the tucked-away and removed-from-the-world feel, so just be prepared. We had no trouble texting and calling on the road into Crockett. We're already planning our next friend getaway at this place. Would highly recommend.

Super clean and comfortable cabin. My only problem, and it was huge for us, the Wi-Fi barely worked if at all.
We booked this weekend to get caught up on work away from our busy home that is currently under renovation.
We had a huge agenda to accomplish but needed Wi-Fi. To top it off their is no cellular service in the area.
Although it was a super quiet and relaxing place; we left stressed knowing we accomplished nothing.

This is a perfect place for those who just want to relax and visit. The house is exactly as advertised. It was clean and well furnished. The location is easy to get to but still feels secluded. We thoroughly enjoyed our time there.

My friend and I stayed here for a "digital detox" weekend, and we loved the place. This is probably one of the cleanest airbnbs I've ever stayed, and the grounds were beautiful. At nights, we stargazed, and in the mornings, we walked the property to see wildlife tracks. We would absolutely stay here again. The place is so peaceful and serene. To anyone bringing a pet, there is a $75 pet fee, which I don't think was on the initial listing, but it should be. Overall great place!

Great place to stay! Our toddler and dog loved having such an open space to play and run around. The house was very clean and it was a great weekend away to disconnect from the world. Like reviews say, there is no service. The cabin is alot further away from the other homes then i thought. But that was not even a big deal, you really are secluded and it was soo nice. Definitely would love to come back!

Our stay at Creekside will be a memorable one for my nephew who has never been in a country setting let alone in the woods. Whilst at the front door of the cabin he was able to witness 5 deer walking through the front yard area unstartled and at peace. The cabin and its surroundings were so peaceful and serene that if I am able I would love to stay again as well as recommend this particular cabin to other friends and family members for it was a very enjoyable experience. At this point all I can say is Thank you, Thank you, Thank you.

My husband and I celebrated our anniversary at creekside. It is a beautiful property and we intend to return. Our pup enjoyed it just as much as us. There is WiFi if you want to use it but you can also just unplug and enjoy. We have Tmobile and there was no cell service at creekside. The property is private and has plenty of space to explore. Creekside was clean and seems to be well maintained. There was bad weather the last night we stayed, and we did lose power, but mother nature is not something the hosts can control. Mark & Brenda did have a flashlight available at creekside and checked on us in the morning. My husband and I agree that Creekside is one of our favorite finds on Airbnb and we highly recommend to anyone who wants to unplug, reconnect or just enjoy nature.

My husband and I had a wonderful stay in Mark and Brenda's Creekside Cabin. The beds are comfy, the towels are fluffy, and the house is very clean. And big! We weren't expecting to have so much room. We enjoyed the walk to the lake and an evening sitting on the deck.**Make the drive to Leona to eat at the Cafe and/or The General Store. You won't be disappointed**

Creekside cabin was the perfect getaway from the city. It was clean, spacious, and had everything we needed. Our dog enjoyed it just as much as we did. There was plenty of space for him to run around outside. Recommend if you want a quiet and secluded weekend.

My wife and I really appreciated this great getaway cabin in the woods. Quiet and isolated from other cabins and homes in the area, a nice rest spot and yet, if desired, still with a connection to the world with the provided WiFi. All the day to day necessities and comforts are provided. The cabin is very well maintained and would be comfortable to stay in for a few or many days ... all the amenities provided are listed on the Airbnb website for the cabin. Brenda and Mark were top-notch hosts and always responded quickly to any questions we had. If you're looking for a private and quiet spot to relax, this is a good place to check out. While we did have some issues at check-in, once they were resolved, the rest of our stay was laid back. The house was very clean and had everything we needed, and the outside was well maintained. There was plenty of space for our pup to run around outside, and being within walking distance of the lake was a plus.

Want a retreat from the city life for a weekend? This is the place to go, overall this place was amazing, very quiet and very beautiful. Almost wished to booked for longer, but will do that next time me and friends plan another trip.

What a great place. It is just as described. The communication, check in, directions, and access were all clear. The place was clean nicely furnished. We did not use them, but there is a bbq grill, fire wood, and fire pit and a nice deck. The location is great. 15 mins to Crockett and just a few mins to the lake. 5 mins to the dam and public boat ramp. I did not get a chance to do any fishing but will definitely make time for that next time. The property itself is very nice. Well maintained and lots of space. Far enough away from other houses and very private. And lots of trees providing lots of shade during the day but still had some open areas to see the beautiful starry skies at night. It is a class 3 dark sky which provided pretty decent views of the Milky Way galaxy core -for those interested in astrophotography. I would definitely recommend this place.

Secluded cabin with room to roam. Lot is lovely- we enjoyed stargazing from the deck, sitting around the campfire, watching the deer in the early mornings, listening to the crickets and the occasional owl and faraway coyotes. The house was sparkling clean, comfortable and well-equipped. Since cellphone service was not available, it was excellent to have fast and reliable wi-fi. The dining table was perfect for cards and games, and having a full table/chairs on the deck was very handy. I look forward to coming back to this house in the autumn when the weather will be as welcoming as the house!

This was our 3rd trip to Vacation Country Rentals. We had 2 married couples, 4 teenage girls and a vey active 5 year old boy. Our tripo was for Memorial weekend.

By Saturday of our trip all teenage girls were making plans for next yearsvisit and the 5 year old put himself to sleep at 8:35 P.M.

Wonderful atmosphere, great amenities, beautiful lake, gracious host, well maintained grounds and tons of fun!!

I kept telling my best friend that I think this might have been one of my favorite airbnb's ever. It's so nice and isolated and quiet. When I take weekend trips I'm always looking to get away from the noise and bustle of the city and this provides that so well I didn't want to leave. We spent a lot of time sitting on the porch by the creek eating and talking and it was balm for the soul. Highly recommend!

My sister and I visited the Creekside to get away from things and have a relaxing vacation. We had a really nice time. The weather was great and it was nice and peaceful out there. The house had everything we needed to make our meals. The bathrooms were clean and had everything we needed to shower. We visited around Crockett and Nacogdoches which is very interesting. We will visit again sometime. My little Yorkie was with us and although he isn't much for chewing things or playing with toys, he had a blast outside sniffing all the trees. I really liked being where you couldn't see anything but trees around. Although there are distant neighbors, you cannot see any houses from the property. Loved it!

If you’re looking for a quiet place to relax without distraction, this is it. You’ll be lucky to get cell signal or food delivery service, BUT what you do get is a large private wooded lot with a couple decks, fire pit and a beautiful creek to explore. Thanks for letting us stay!

This was a great spot to visit and have a weekend away from Austin! We came in April and it was gorgeous weather and scenery- wildflowers blooming everywhere, warm/sunny days and wonderful lake temperature for swimming! The Airbnb was clean and accommodating, but the best part was the location (including the lovely/foresty grounds).

We stayed at the Creekside property in March 2021, and could not have had a better time. The booking and check in/out process was easy, and the property had excellent accommodations. It's worth noting that the Creekside property is a fairly long walk to the lake, so expect to have more of a camp cabin experience (vs lake house experience). I would highly recommend this property for a family looking for a comfortable and quiet getaway.

This was our first time to Crockett, TX. The cabin was a wonderful getaway to relax. We enjoyed the space, both inside and out to explore including the wonderful trails and spacious property to roam. I was not expecting the outside lighting to be so nice at night. Inside, it has all the amenities that we needed and comfortable sleeping.

VRBO Review: This was our first time at this property and it was exactly as presented on the website. The house had all the comforts of home with a well-lit yard in a quiet wooded setting. The beds are comfortable, the shower is amazing, and there’s so much room to bring in all our stuff and not trip over it all week. TVs in all rooms, washer and dryer, and large kitchen table and living area. We thoroughly enjoyed ourselves. We will be back at Creekside next year.

“Mark & Brenda are incredible hosts for a number of reasons: We had some crazy weather and Mark & Brenda had to improvise the first night as power was out, so they relocated us to a lake property with the most incredible outdoor space. Though we weren’t here for the water, we will be back as there was ample deck space, kayaks, and access to the water from the deck. Such a great family spot. Our second spot and original location got power back the second day, and we were able to head over to our stay and enjoy the beautiful outdoor woods in a private area. We were looking for a private retreat and found it. The night sky was clear and bright full of stars. We will be back to visit many times!”

Hard to imagine a more welcoming place to spend your time with friends and family than Vacation Country Rentals! After our first time a few years ago we really fell in love with the place and became regular guests. Everything is perfect here - lovely spotless very well-equipped houses (I believe we stayed in each one :-), comfortable beds, relaxing atmosphere, cute backyards or cozy decks with a nice view, if you prefer to stay on the lake. Vacation Country Rentals is suitable for recreation in any season and weather. Last time even two days heavy rain couldn't ruin our stay. We loved staying at creekside. The home itself is so cozy and all the kitchen stuff worked great. I love that they had extra towels for dogs. There is plenty of space to play games outside and also a nice fire pit. There is also a small patio in front and a wood deck out back with a table. We loved hanging out there during the daytime. My dogs also enjoying having a private area to run around and be adventurous. There are also small trails you can take from the house which were fun to do with my dogs. Just watch out for deer or other wild animals if you take your dogs on a walk. We also enjoyed how quiet and peaceful it is at nighttime. What a perfect Place to unplug!

From the no-contact check-in process, to the excellent binder full of information about the property and nearby areas, not only was this stay easy, but really thoroughly thought out! The hosts make sure you have everything you need to have a little home-away-from-home feel, and there's basically everything you could want there. The raised deck showcasing the back of the property that goes on into the woods for a surprising distance makes for an amazing meal spot! It overlooks the firepit, the extra deck even further into the property in front of the woods, and there's even lighting features so you can choose your ambience out there too. Overall, we're already planning on coming back, and can't wait to do so!

We had a great stay at Creekside. We've rented many houses and this one was the cleanest I've seen. The beds were comfortable. We had everything we needed. It's very family/kid/dog friendly. I didn't feel nervous about ruining or breaking anything and was able to relax. The property was fantastic for our kids and our dog. Our girls were able to explore and our dog had room to run. It rained while we were there and I worried about tracking mud in, but it wasn't an issue. The floors were all tile or wood, so easy to clean. I meant to bring towels, but I forgot. I was very worried about the white towels and I was happy to see a couple towels in the closet labeled for the dog. The owners were very good about communicating and the location was easy to find.We found plenty to do, even though we didn't really leave the property. Thanks for providing a nice place to getaway, even for just a few days.

Creekside Cabin was delightful! I needed a secluded woodsy break and this was the perfect property. Everything was neat and clean plus comfortable! The kitchen even satisfied a retired chef! The TV was the only drawback as no Fox so we could watch Nascar but otherwise - a great place for my romantic reconnect with an old friend! The stars were awesome! Thanks for attention bv to detail! Loved it!

Owner Response: Yes, sadly our cable is what I refer to as country cable. Stations change without notice and channel guides are impossible to keep up with. The folks that run the cable company are great and we try to support local businesses. Of course, even if we didn't we have few options. lol

“Mark & Brenda’s cabin exceeded expectations. The property looks better than the pics online. I was amazed with the cleanliness and space the cabin provided. Mark & Brenda provided everything imaginable to make our trip comfortable. I had a peace of mind knowing that my kids could play as much as they wanted outdoors & not have to worry about safety. The property had so much space and serenity If you are looking for relaxation & quietness, this is the place for you. My family took long walks on the land enjoying the natural creek & the beauty of the big pine trees& wildlife. The kids enjoyed melting marshmallows on the woodfire. The time spent at the lake with the kids swimming provided lifelong memories. The time we spent indoors was also memorable. There was more than enough space with tv’s in each room. I can’t rave enough on how spacious & clean the cabin was. I will highly recommend this property.”

This place was absolutely spectacular at a great price. It really set the mood for my birthday/Mother’s Day weekend. We called it luxurious camping. We were able to have the pleasure of an actual house while being in our own private forest with a very much appreciated Free set of fire wood. A plus side to this place was that it was easy to mostly baby proof inside and let our wild toddler run around. It was clean and well taken care of. We will definitely be coming back.
Also, we really appreciated the labeled cabinets and lights so much!!

This place has everything you might need to just get away. The house is very secluded and just a nice walk away from the lake. Everything looked just like the pictures and was extremely clean. We just spent a long weekend at the Creekside property right outside of Crockett, TX. This was our third visit in 5 years. The vacation home and surrounding acreage are just perfect to get away from the hustle and bustle of daily life. Everything was very clean and well maintained. The property has a creek that runs behind it, and we saw several deer every day during our stay. The owners are great to work with, and they make sure that you have everything you need for a wonderful vacation.

Mark and Brenda have a beautiful hidden gem here! If your looking for a restful, peaceful, quiet retreat look no further. Pack your swimsuit, towel and definately a flashlight. This is true country it gets dark and I mean can't see two feet away. Also if you have AT&T you will have no service. Internet yes but no phone calls. We will be looking to come back next year with more family. This time we will stay closer to other properties as this property is away from everything. We never found the other properties overall loved staying here.

My wife and I had an amazing time at Creekside. It was just what we needed, a nice quiet place away from the city. The cabin was secluded and surrounded by pine trees. The private dock area on the lake was nice and I was able to catch two fish off of it. We brought our Lab and he loved running around with such a huge yard to do so. We will definitely be going back.

Our family was looking for a quiet place to getaway from the hustle and bustle of the city for rest and relaxation. This place was perfect! It was peaceful and serene. The cabin was clean and nicely decorated. It had everything we needed, and more. The kids loved exploring the land and the creek behind the house. The lake was fantastic! Although it was a holiday (July 4th) week, we literally had the park to ourselves that Saturday. It was a great place to picnic and swim. We thoroughly enjoy our stay!

This property is perfect for a couple or a family retreat. The price can't be beat, and the home is always perfectly clean and ready for your arrival. It's a great place to unplug, if one wishes, there is cable tv and netflix! The kitchen is spacious, just ready for the family to cook meals or use the outdoor charcoal grill. Love it and the owners are great as well!

"Very Peaceful and Relaxing"

We had a wonderful Thanksgiving stay. The cabin was remote, but not difficult to find thanks to the owner's directions. There are neighbors close by, but unless you wander through a wooded area to the back road behind the property and walk a ways, you would never know it! The lot is large, very private (locking gate at entrance) and very well kept. There are two decks; one large deck at the cabin, and another slightly smaller one close to the nearby running creek. Each deck has an ample number of chairs, a nice Weber grill, a table, and lighting options. The lighted path to the 2nd deck was a nice touch. The cabin was very nice and comfortable with two bedrooms with comfortable beds and two full-sized bathrooms. Everything was clean and well-maintained and all of the light switches were labeled, which was very helpful, especially with the outside lighting. There is also a fire pit just off the main deck with a good supply of wood and small starter logs.

One bit of advice here... As with all remote areas of East Texas, if you have AT&T as your cell carrier, the service is not good to nonexistent (Personally, I find this a plus-- it's supposed to be a getaway!). But the WiFi was very reliable and the owners have provided a LAN line with free long distance if needed.

We have stayed at quite a few HomeAway properties, and this one was definitely "as advertised" (no photo trickery on their site), and among the best-maintained and managed properties that we have been to. We do plan on returning next year!

It was just as it was advertised!! Beautiful surroundings and home! Loved that it was very private and peaceful! Definitely worth the trip to stay and explore!

This is the second time we have stayed at Creekside for Crockett's Christmas on the Square. This property is so much better than advertised. Super clean, super organized, and the communication on directions, entry information, etc. was perfect. It is an absolutely wonderful place to get away from it all and have some seclusion. Watching the deer in the morning is a great treat for us city dwellers. You need to stay here if it fits your needs. You will not be disappointed.

"Quiet solitude"

We actually stayed at a different one of Mark and Brenda's properties on the other side of the lake since our group was a little larger than originally planned and Brenda graciously moved us, so I can't comment on this particular cabin. We stayed in Henry's Hideaway and everything was perfect! We especially enjoyed the use of their kayaks. The weather was great in October, very few bugs to deal with, and the house itself was so clean and comfortable, it was an awesome stay! The property listed above is apparently more secluded on several acres with lake access but is not right on the lake. Mark and Brenda run a tip top business, so I am sure that this house is comfortable and clean as well, you can't go wrong with Vacation Country Rentals!

"Better than described!"

What a wonderful Labor Day weekend at Creekside! If you are looking for a delightful 2 BR house that's secluded and totally private, look no further. The comfortable home is definitely "high end" with granite, new appearing appliances, and upgraded bathrooms. It was sparkling clean and everything was in perfect working order. An important factor was that the owners live nearby if they were needed. They weren't but it was reassuring to know that they were available. They are amazing property owners who know how to do things right. Creekside was a quiet place to unwind for a few days. We look forward to returning to when we can. If you book this property, you will NOT be disappointed.

This rental is a cozy, comfortable little cottage nestled in the Texas piney woods. Lots of nature surrounding it with neat trails and bridges. Heck, we even saw our first live Armadillo!! All in all it was an awesome stay and we would use it again if we come back to Crockett.

There were a couple of things we felt were misrepresented in the listing.

1. The rental is listed as 3 BR. It is 2 BR with a pull out couch.

2. The way we read the listing made it sound like trails led through the woods to the lake. There are a set of trails as mentioned above, but they lead to a dirt road that leads to the lake. The map graphic is a bit misleading as to its location as well.

That being said, the rental is still well worth the money spent and we had a WONDERFUL time.

Owner's Response: Thanks so much for the review and comments. Unfortunately, Homeaway/VRBO require us to list beds as bedrooms in order for it to show a 6 person capacity. Your comments did make us take a closer look at the both web sites. We do have a 3D rendering of the interior layout of the home on both sites and we hoped that would help. Regardless, we will work on making it clearer on both sites that this home is a 2 bedroom with a pull out sofa. We did read though the site looking for verbiage regarding trails to the lake, we were unable to find anything suggesting that. There is a dirt road to the lake that is mentioned. "Bliss in the Woods"

This property is amazing! By far the best one I have stayed at on Homeaway. The cabin was even better than the description! From the pictures, I didn't quite understand how massive the property was. The inside of the cabin was very clean, and orderly. I loved all the instructions and directions. I would like to note how awesome it was to see so much wild life! When I first drove in I saw 4-5 White Tail Deer feeding! Amazing place. I have recommended this cabin to my family, and will be returning ASAP! Thank you Mark And Brenda!

My family and I stayed here for the weekend and had a great relaxing time. Our one year son really enjoyed running all over the place outside. Everything was so clean and nice. We will definitely be back!

My husband and two kids stayed here for a spring break/anniversary getaway. The property is beautiful and peaceful. The home is very, very nice and clean. We have stayed in many different rental properties through the years and this one was by far the nicest. We enjoyed checking out the unique shops on the square in Crockett. We also drove out to Mission Tejas state park and did some hiking. We got some much needed family time and relaxation. Perfect getaway! We will be back!

After many years of coming to TX from Illinois and spending the week in a hotel, this year we rented the Creekside house. What a great choice! The house and property were so comfortable and well appointed and the location was ideal for our needs. Can't imagine going back to a hotel. See you next year!

"Lovely getaway"

This is a lovely place to "get away". The only sound we could hear was the birds...very peaceful! This was our 2nd stay at Creekside and have stayed at one of the other properties also. Everything is clean, well stocked with kitchen needs, comfortable, and in beautiful wooded surroundings. It is almost exactly half way between Houston and Waco, which makes it a perfect place to meet with our friends of 30 years. We ate at Thompson's BBQ for Friday lunch, and it was fine. The owners were very personable. We "cooked in" the rest of weekend so have no other recommendations for dining this time. The Mercantile (antique store just off the square in town) is a lovely place to shop, and we have made a stop there on each of our visits to Crockett. The owner is delightful to talk to. We look forward to a return visit to Creekside.

My wife and I were joined by another couple from Plainview, and the house and property fit our needs perfectly. The listing description was spot on, and the photos gave a good idea of what the property looked like. The house was very clean and inviting, and all of the appliances and mechanical systems worked without a flaw. The property is very well maintained, and all of the personal touches make this a very relaxing place to unwind. We loved it.
